You are more beautiful than you think!

Wow.
Truly inspiring and touching video. How do view your yourself?
You are more beautiful than you think!

“Real Beauty Sketches” campaign uses an FBI-trained sketch artist for a social experiment to see how women view themselves in contrast to how others see their beauty. And yes, we realize its a Dove commercial, but the message itself is universal.

Watch the video below!

"Women are their own worst beauty critics. Only 4% of women around the world consider themselves beautiful. At Dove, we are committed to creating a world where beauty is a source of confidence, not anxiety. So, we decided to conduct a compelling social experiment that explores how women view their own beauty in contrast to what others see."

COLD Problems: Sore Nose

Its the first day of spring, and you know what that means...  Cold and Allergy season.. YAYYyyy..ugh.

I've been sick the past few days.. The sneezing, dripping, can't sleep, eyes watering, head pounding, sinus wrenching kind of cold. (shh.. don't be jealous) And now, as if having a cold wasn't bad enough, I have a sore nose as well!

As you probably already know, wiping up your snotty nose repeatedly can (AND WILL, trust me) cause the skin around your nose to become red, raw and irritated.

::As if I didn't feel crummy enough as it is::

We've all been there..  your nose starts to drip, and you reach for the first thing you can find..  A tissue, toilet paper, a paper towel, your sleeve.. oh wait.  not your sleeve, bad idea.   This isn't normally a problem, after all your skin is naturally pretty tough.  Eventually though, after wiping your nose 100 times a day, it starts to take its toll.  The constant irritation to your nose and upper lip is getting worse and worse.  Its tender, dry, red and painful.  This is usually when my common sense kicks in, and I buy the tissues with the aloe lotion in them, but its already far past that point.

So how do you help the skin heal faster?

Well, first of all, stop the drip.   Take an antihistamine to stop or reduce the constant drainage that is causing you to have to wipe your nose repeatedly.   But to help relieve the immediate problem of your sore nose, they say to apply petroleum jelly or a soothing emollient lotion.  EEEK, steer clear from the jelly!!  It will help your nose feel better temporarily, but its only going to make the situation worse down the road.

INSTEAD... TRY LIP BALM.  I'm not kidding kids, it works!!  Try it next time!

While any old lip balm would work, I like ours a lot mainly because its packed with shea butter.   Shea butter's effect on the skin is different from that of petroleum jelly.  Instead of lying inert on the surface of the skin, it actually gets absorbed by your skin, and helps retains moisture and promote healing. Not only that, but it contains peppermint and rosemary essential oils, which are ANTIBACTERIAL!

Apply the lip balm to the skin under your nose to help soothe and protect your skin in that area immediately.  You can keep a tube of lip balm handy just for this purpose if you are prone to getting a sore nose. Keep it separate from the balm you use for your lips, and throw it away after your cold has resolved!

"We were made to be Awesome!"

It's not very often that I watch a youtube video that inspires me as much as this one does.

"This is your time.  This is my time.  This is our time.
We can make every day better for each other.
If we're all on the same team, let's start acting like it.
We got work to do.
We can frown about it, or we can dance about it.

We were made to be Awesome."

Debunking 5 Cold Weather Skincare Myths

I hope you are all enjoying your winter while staying warm, healthy and happy!  While the snow in Salt Lake City/Utah is beautiful (greatest snow on earth!), I find myself dreaming of warm summer Sundays sitting on Main Street in Park City, listening to awesome live music, eating amazing street food and hanging out with you!

I came across this article in the HuffPost on debunking cold weather skincare myths, and I wanted to share it with you:

Beauty Myths: 5 Cold Weather Skincare Statements Debunked

We spoke to Dr Jaggi Rao, Clinical Professor of Medicine and Dermatology at the University of Alberta to dispel some common myths about your skincare routine.

Plus, we threw in some helpful tips for keeping your skin well-hydrated during the chill (you're welcome!).

Myth 1: Less Humidity Means Fewer Breakouts
False! The extreme dryness common to colder months can actually cause microscopic breaks in the skin that allow unwanted bacterial organisms to enter and cause breakouts. Keep your skin moisturized to ward off breakouts the right way.

Myth 2: Moisturizer Is The Only Way To Keep Skin From Drying Out
False! We don’t normally think of clothing as part of the skincare routine, but protective clothing like mittens, gloves, and scarves help shield your skin from dryness and deter circulatory inflammations that erupt as a result of cold weather.

Myth 3: Skincare In The Colder Months Has To Be A Multi-Step Process
False! The most essential items you need are a cleanser and a deep-hydrating moisturizer. Cream formulas are thicker and provide a better protective layer against the elements (as long as you also find a formula that doesn’t clog your pores).

Myth 4: Drenching Yourself In Moisturizer Will Counteract Dryness
False! Excessive moisturizer will simply clog pores. Try a thin layer of creamy moisturizer to keep skin hydrated and protected from the elements. As a rule of thumb, use a fingertip amount all over your face—the size of your fingertip to your first knuckle.

Myth 5: You Don’t Need Sunscreen In The Fall Or Winter
False! There are plenty of UV rays that will harm your skin even during overcast days. These rays contribute to aging so continue to wear sunscreen on a daily basis. Try a facial moisturizer with built-in SPF so you can skip a step each morning, and spend more time nice and warm under the covers.

Our Body Butter is a very deep-hydrating heavy cream, as described above.  Our body butter has been flying off the shelves this winter, and has been raved about by many people across the Nation (that's right, I said Nation!).
